I make sure software actually works before it reaches people — testing websites, apps, and the systems behind them, and building automation to do it faster.
Before an app or website reaches real people, someone has to check that it actually does what it's supposed to — that's my job. I test what people see on screen, the systems working behind it, and the data underneath all of it. Right now I'm leading that work for a platform being rebuilt into a more modern system, and building tools that make testing faster for the whole team.
Making sure a large platform keeps working correctly while it's rebuilt into smaller, independent parts (what engineers call microservices).
Checking the hidden connections that let apps and websites talk to each other, not just what's visible on screen (using tools like Postman).
Simulating lots of real-world traffic to make sure software stays fast and stable when many people use it at once (using JMeter).
Writing programs that test the software by themselves, so problems get caught faster without slowing the team down (a Python framework on pytest).
Making sure information stored in the system is accurate and consistent, especially after it moves between systems.
Setting up automatic checks that run every time new code ships, catching problems before real users see them (Bitbucket pipelines).
Digging past what's on screen — logs and system records — to find out what actually went wrong.
Working With the Team
Work closely with engineering and product teams to understand what's being built, so testing lines up with what actually matters to the business.
Writing It All Down
Plan out what needs to be tested and how, and keep clear records so anyone on the team can see what's been checked.
Reporting Problems Clearly
Find issues, explain them clearly, and make sure the right people know about them so they can get fixed.
Watching Quality End to End
Keep an eye on quality throughout the entire process, making sure what ships actually works and feels reliable to the people using it.
Always Improving
Look for ways to make the software — and the testing process itself — faster, more reliable, and better for everyone using it.
